Question 4448: A person standing close to the edge on the top of a 200-foot building throws a baseball upward into the air. The quadratic function models the ball’s height above the ground in feet, t seconds after it was thrown.
After how many seconds does the ball reach its maximum height? What is the maximum height?
How many seconds does it take the ball to hit the ground?

Answer by Earlsdon(6294)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The quadratic equation to which you refer but failed to include is:
h(t) = -16t^2 + (vo)t + ho
Where: t is time in seconds, vo is the initial upward velocity of the object, and ho is the initial height of the object.
In this problem, the object is a baseball, which does not alter the mechanics of the situation.
The initial upward velocity has been omitted, and the initial height of the baseball is that of the thrower or 200 ft.
The upshot (no pun intended) is that unless and until you provide the quadratic equation to which you allude or the initial upward velocity with which the baseball was propelled, a solution cannot be found.
