Question 440898: Please help:
Train A and Train B are parallel to each other. Both trains leave the station at the same time.
Train A is traveling at 60 mph and passes the 1st station at 4:15 am
train B is traveling at 64 mph and passes the 1st station at 4:45am
At what time will train B catch up to Train A?
Answer by jorel1380(3719) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
60x+30=64x
x hours at 60 mph, plus a 30 mile head start, equals x hours at 64mph:
60x+30=64x
30=64x
7.5=x
The trains will catch up 7-1/2 hours later, or at 12:15 p.m..
