Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
if someone is travelling at 75mph and another person was travelling at 80mph 5 miles behind the other how long will it take the other person the catch up with the other.
-----
Slower person DATA:
rate = 75 mph ; time = t hrs. ; distance = rt = 75t miles
-----
Faster person DATA:
rate = 80 mph ; time = t hrs. ; distance = rt = 80t miles
-----
Equation:
faster distance - slower distance = 5 miles
80t-75t = 5
5t = 5
t = 1 hr.
