Question 437560: Sarah hikes at 4 kilometers per hour from one end of a trail that is 34 km long. Amanda begins 1 hr laater at the other end. Walks toward sarah at 6 k/m. How long will it take for them to pass each other
Answer by mananth(16946) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Sarah 4 km/h
Amanda 6 km/h 1 hours late
Distance 37 km
1hour Sarah has traveled 4 km before Amanda starts
So distance = 33 When amanda starts
Let time they take to meet be x hours
Sarah distance traveled 4 x miles
Amanda distance traveled 6 x miles
Time taken to meet is same
t=d/r
combined speed= 10 km/h
10 x = 33 2.44
x= 3.3 hours after Amanda starts
