Question 435786: A man travels a certain distance at 60 miles per hour and returns over the same road at 40 miles per hour. What is his average rate for the round trip in miles per hour?
Answer by Alan3354(69443)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
It's 2*40*60/(40+60)
= 48 mph
------------
It's similar to Ohm's Law for 2 resistors in parallel, but multiplied by 2.
I worked it out while studying the Michelson-Morley experiment.
