Let x and c represent the speed of the boat and current respectively
Question states***
x + c = 48mph |r = D/t = 48mi/1hr
x - c = 32mph |r = 48mi/1.5hr
2x = 80mph
x = 40mph, speed of boat. The current is 8mph (48mph-40mph)
