Question 432862: could you explain how to do these like one train leaves at 8 am at 30 mph and another at 9 am at 40mph when will they meet or pass each other?
Answer by mananth(16949)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Train A 30 mph
Train B 40 mph

Train A passes station at 08:00
Train B passes station at 09:00

Difference in time=01:00
Train Awill have covered 30 miles before Train B starts

catch up distance= 30 miles
catch up speed = 40 -30 mph
catch up speed = 10 mph

Catchup time = catchup distance/catch up speed
catch up time= 30 / 10
catch up time= 3 hours
catch up time= 180 minutes
It will catch up at 12:00:00 Noon
