Question 428243: Two motorbikes leave Atlanta, Georgia at the same time, one traveling north at the speed of 50 miles per hour and the other south at a rate of 55 miles per hour. After how many hours will they be 420 miles apart?
Answer by Gogonati(855) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Solution: Let x be the time after motorbikes are 420 miles apart.
50x miles is the distance traveled north.
55x miles is the distance traveled south.
Set the equation: 50x+55x=420 => 105x=420 => x=4.
Answer: After 4 hours the motorbikes are 420 miles apart.
