Let r = rate of river
given:
downstream:
+72+=+%28c+%2B+r%29+%2A+3+
(1) 24+=+c+%2B+r+
upstream:
+60++=+%28c+-+r%29+%2A+6+
(2) 10+=+c+-+r+
Add (1) and (2)
34+=+2c+
c+=+17
and
24+=+17+%2B+r+
r+=+7
You just used r for the boat and c for the river
Same answer -OK
