a boy walked into the countryside at a rate of 5 mph and returned over the same route on a bus traveling at 30 mph.
the entire trip took 4 1/2 hours.
which equation could you use to solve this problem?
:
Let d = the one-way distance
Write a time equation; Time = dist/speed
:
Walk time + bus time = 4.5 hrs
+ = 4.5
You can multiply thru by 30 and find d easily, from that you can find the time walking and time riding
