Question 413824: to cars start toward each other at eh same time from two cities 360 km apart. if one car averages 40 km/h and the other 50 km/h,how much time will elapse before they meet?
Answer by bayners123(12)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Just find the relative speeds by adding the two speeds,in this case 50km/hr and 40km/hr. This gives you that they are travelling towards each other at 90km/hr.
Now use the equation for speed time and distance:
distance = speed * time
time = distance/speed
=360/90
=4 hrs
