If they leave at the same time and walk in the same direction, Robert overtakes Juanita in 11 hours.
If they walk towards each other, they meet in 1 hour. What are their speeds?

Let j = J's walking speed

Write a distance equation for each scenario; dist = time * speed
:
11(r - j) = 5.5; (going same direction)
1(r + j) = 5.5; (going toward each other)

Divide the 1st equation by 11 and add to the 2nd equation

r + j = 5.5
