Question 388842: two helicopters take off at the same time from the same airport and travel in opposite directions. The northbound aircraft travels at 350 km/h and the southbound aircraft is 25 km/h slower. In how many hours will the two helicopters be 2025 km apart?
Answer by MCAT(6)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Time Northbound Helicopeter Southbound Helicopter Total Distance apart
(distance from the airport):(distance from the airport): (from each other)
Hour 1:------350km----------------------------325km-----------------675km
Hour 2:------700km-----------------------------650km----------------1350km
Hour 3:------1050km----------------------------975km----------------2025km

Therefore, they will be 2025km apart in three hours!
Note: Ignore the dashes, they're supposed to be blank spances, without them, this wouldn't look like a chart.
