Start with the distance formula.

Plug in , , , and .

Subtract from to get .

Subtract from to get .

Square to get .

Square to get .

Add to to get .

Take the square root of to get .

So our answer is

So the distance between the two points is 9 units.

Note: because the two points have the same x coordinate, we can think of this distance along a number line. So we can essentially count the number of spaces between -3 and 6 to get 9 spaces (or units)
