Question 38863: Two pipes simultaneously function to fill a tank in 12 hours. If one pipe takes 10 hours less than the other ,find the time taken by the two pipes.
Answer by Paul(988) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
One pipe = x-10 hours
Another pipe = x hours
Equation:
[(x)+(x-10)]=[(x)(x-10)]/12
solve that you get x=4 or x=30
Neglect x=4
30-10=20
Hence, one pipe can fill the tank is 30 hours and another can fill it in 20 hours.
