time they meet = 4 hours.

they are walking towards each other
So add up their speeds
combined speed = x+2 km/h

t=18/(x+2)=4
multiply by (x+2)
18=4(x+2)
18=4x+8
-8
18-8 = 4x
10 = 4x
/4
10/4=x
