Let x = rate of one cyclist. Then 2x = rate of other cyclist.
Then by using the distance formula on each cyclist,
4x + 4*(2x) = 120;
4x + 8x = 120;
12x = 120;
x = 10 miles per hour, the rate of one cyclist, and
20 miles per hour, the rate of the other cyclist.
