Question 372363: I think this is a distance = rate * time problem??
My wife bicycles 150 miles in the same amount of time that I bicycle 90 miles. If she bicycles at an average speed that is 5 mph faster than my average speed, then at what average speeds are we bicycling?
So far, I think I know this much:
my distance = 90 miles
my rate = r
my time = t
wife's distance = 150 miles
wifes's rate = r+5
wife's time = t
Thank you!

 how about t = d / r ___ the times are equal
90 / x = 150 / (x + 5)
"cross" multiplying is good here
