Hi,
Let x represent the speed of the fishing boat.
d = r*t distance the same to and from the fishing hole
The stream is running at a rate of 5 miles per hour****
(x+ 5mph)* 2 = (x - 5mph)*6
solving for x
2x + 10mph = 6x - 30mph
40mph = 4x
10mph = x, the speed of the fishing boat.
checking our answer
15mph*hr2 = 5mph*6hr
