Answer by checkley77(12844)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
D=RT
D=2T FOR THE FIRST HIKER.
D=3(T-25/60) FOR THE SECOND HIKER.
2T=3(T-.41667)
2T=(3T-1.25)
2T-3T=-1.25
-T=-1.25
T=1.25 HOURS OR 1:15 MINUTES AFTER THE SECOND HIKER LEAVES HE WILL MEET THE FIRST HIKER.
9:25+1:15=10:40 IS WHEN THEY WILL MEET.
2*1.25=3(1.25-.41667)
2.5=3(.8333)
2.5=2.5
