Hi,
Let x represent time took to row upstream. then time downstream would be (6.25hr - x)
d= r*t (distance upstream and downstream the same)
(5mph - 3mph)x = (5mph +3mph) (6.25hr - x)
2x = 8*6.25 -8x
10x = 50hr
x = 5 hr

2mph*5hr = 8mph * 1.25hr = 10
