distance = 200 miles ; rate = x mph ; time = 200/x hrs

2nd part DATA:
distance = 180 miles ; rate = 45 mph ; time = 180/45 = 4 hrs

Equation:
time + time = 9 hrs
200/x + 4 = 9 hrs
200/x = 5
x = 200/5
x = 40 mph (rate for the 1st 200 miles)
