Question 352426: Please help me with this question! ( At 10 a.m a car leaves a house at a rate of 60 mi/hour. at the same time, another car leaves the same house at a rate of 50 mi/hour in the opposite direction. at what time will the cars be 330 miles apart?)
Answer by mananth(16946)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
speed of one car = 60 mph
speed of other car = 50 mph.
since they are traveling in opposite directions and co-linesr their effective speed will ne 50+60 =110 mph.
Distance = 330 miles.
...
Time = distance/speed
time = 330/110
= 3hours.
So at 1.00 pm they will be 330 miles apart.
