torque left home on his bicycle at 9:00 am traveling at an average rate of 12 mph. at noon, torque's brother set out after him on a motorcycle, following the same route, averaging the 39 mph. How far had torque traveled when his brother caught up?
---------------
In 3 hours, torque had gone 36 miles (12 mph * 3 hr)
His brother's relative speed is 27 mph (39 - 12 mph)
He overtakes him in 36/27 hours = 4/3 hours
In 4/3 hours, the brother will go (4/3)*39 miles
= 52 miles, obviously the same distance as torque.
