Question 351572: Two trains are traveling toward each other on adjacent tracks. One of the trains is 230 feet long and it traveling at 50 mph. the other trains is 210 feet long and is traveling at the rate of 60 mph. find the time interval between the moemnt the trains first meet until they completely pass each other.
Answer by sudhanshu_kmr(1152)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Total distance to be travel = 230 + 210 = 440 ft.
Relative velocity of trains = 50+ 60 =110 mph = 5280 *110 ft/h
( because traveling in different direction)
Time taken = distance / velocity

= 440/ ( 5280 *110 ) hour

= 4/ 5280 hour

= ( 4 /5280 ) * 3600 seconds

= 2.73 seconds (approx)
