Question 350497: First off, thanks for volunteering your time and expertise to help students; you are so valuable to us!
Two brothers , Bob and Charlie , live 450 miles apart. Starting at the same time they plan to drive until they meet. Bob averages 10 mph faster than Charlie who averages 50 mph. How long will it take them to meet?
Let t = time (in hours)
60(t) + 50(t) = 450
t = 4.09 hours
I have a very bad history with converting a word problem into a math problem, so I am not too confident in my solution.
