Question 346375: during a multi day camping trip, terry watkins rowed 17 hrs downstream. It took 26.5 hrs rowing upstream to travel the same distance. If the speed of the current is 6.8 km per hour less than his rowing speed in still water, find his rowing speed and the speed and the speed of the current
Answer by scott8148(6628)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
c = r - 6.8

17(r + c) = 26.5(r - c)

substitute the equivalent value of c from the 1st equation into the 2nd equation and solve for r

then substitute the numerical value of r into the 1st equation to find c
