Question 339486: Two boats leave a port at the same time, one traveling north and the other traveling south. The northbound boat travels 12mph faster than the southbound boat. If the southbound boat is traveling at 25mph, how long before they are 124 miles apart? The answer should be in hours, either using an integer or decimals.

I know I need to use the distance rate time equation i just cant figure out how to set it up correctly.

Since they are traveling in opposite directions
you can add their speeds to get their distance apart
given:
= the speed of the southbound boat
= the speed of the northbound boat

They are 124 mi apart in 2 hrs
