I need help on figuring out how to set up this word prblem to work it out, here it is. Alice leaves her house, driving east at 45mph.Thirty minutes later, her husband Dave notices she forgot her cell phone and sets off after her.How fast must dave travel in order to catch up with Alice 3 hours after he leaves?
-------------------
In 0.5 hours, Alice has gone 22.5 miles.
For Dave to gain 22.5 miles on her in 3 hours, he has to go 7.5 mph faster (22.5/3).
45 + 7.5 = 52.5 mph
---------------------
There's no way a woman, or probably anyone, wouldn't notice the forgotten phone for 30 minutes, imo. Chances are they would pass each other (going opposite directions) while she's on her way back to get it.
