Question 337240: Two cars leave from the same places at the same time, traveling in opposite directions. One travels 5 km/hr faster than the other. After 3 hours, they are 495 km apart. How fast is each car traveling?
Answer by solver91311(24713) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Divide 495 by 3 giving the sum of the two speeds. You need to find two numbers, one 5 larger than the other that when added equals the sum of the two.
495/3 = 165. Subtract 5, divide by 2 makes 80. 80 is one speed and 85 is the other speed.
