Question 336513: A student walks and jogs to college each day. she averages 5km/h walking and 9km/h jogging. the distance from home to college is 8km, and she makes the trip in 1hr. how far does the student jog?
Answer by edjones(8007) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let x=fraction of an hour walking.
(5/h * xh)+ (9/h * (1-x)h) = 8
5x+9-9x=8
-4x=-1
x=1/4.
9(1- 1/4)=6.75 km distance the student jogs.
