Question 31844: Two cars started from the same point on a straght course in opposite directions for exactly 2 hours, at which time thy were 208 miles apart. if one traveled on average 8 miles faster than th eother care, what was the average speed for each care for the 2 hour trip?
Answer by Paul(988) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let the speed of one car be x and another be x+8
Equation:
2(x+x+8)=208
4x+16=208
4x=192
x=48
48+8=56
Hence, the speed of one car was 48mph and another was 56mph.
