Question 310819: I am taking a science course to teach sicence to elementary students. Here is my problem. I know the following infomation only!
Distance 0.0095km
Time?
Speed=2m/s
I see that the distance is in km and the speed is in meters! I have not worked with metric system in over 30 years? How do I solve this problem?
Answer by solver91311(24713) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A kilometer is 1000 meters. So 0.0095 kilometers is the same thing as 9.5 meters.
Then it is merely a matter of dividing 9.5 by 2.
Alternatively, if you are a masochist and like to beat yourself with long decimal fractions you could say that since a kilometer is 1000 meters, 2m/s is the same thing as 0.002 km/s
Then divide 0.0095 by 0.002
The answer is the same either way.
