Question 304053: Two cars leave town traveling in opposite directions at 50 km/h and 40 km/h. In how many hours will they be 300 km apart?
Answer by mananth(16946) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
speed of one car = 50 kmph
Let this travel x miles when thay are 300 kms away
speed of other car = 40 kmph
this would have traveled 300-x in the same time
x/50 = 300-x /40
40x=50(300-x)
40x=15000-50x
90x= 15000
x= 15000/90
x= 166.66 km
166.66 /50= 3.33 hours
they will be 300 km apart after 3.33 hours
