If the distance from one of the convention hotels to the airport is 7.5 miles,how much will it cost to take a taxi from that hotel to the airport.

The total cost for 1 mile would be $2.00 because the first 1/5 mile is $1.25 and the remaining 4/5 of a mile is $.25 each. Since the ride's length is 7.5 miles, you multiply 7.5 by $2.00 to get the total cost which is $15.00. If the taxi has to wait, which it doesn't specify in the question, you'd add on $12.00 for every hour. :)
