Question 29610: OK - here's the problem. A motorcycle traveling at 60mph overtakes a car traveling at 40 mph that had a 3 hour head start. How far from the starting point are the 2 vehicles? Thanks for some help.
Answer by Paul(988) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
60x=40(x+3)
60x=40x+120
20x=120
x=6
60(6)=40(6+3)
360=360
Hence, they are 360 miles away.
