Question 288810: A semi truck leaves a dock at 2 pm. It travels a rate of 60 mi/h. A second truck leaves the same dock an hour later and travels the same route at 75 mi/h. How long will it take the second truck to catch up the first truck?

you obviously have not looked for similar problems. I already did 2 others today.
the first truck has an hour head start. So he goes 60 miles in that hour.
the second truck gains on the first truck at 15 mph
60/15=4
so it will take 4 hours to catch up.
But they will both get arrested since the national speed limit is still 55.
60*(t+1)=75t
60t+60=75t
60=15t
60/15=t
t= 4hours
