Answer by richwmiller(17219)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!

This makes no sense, "a stream flows at a rate of 4 mph in still water."
Make up your mind. Is the stream flowing or is it still!
x+y=6,
(r+4)*x=35,
(r-4)*y=35
r=12.9 mph in still water
