I have a question about percents
if I have 180 miles and only travel 45 of those mile how eo figure out what is the percentage of miles already driven.
----
You want to drive 180 miles.
You have driven 45
The percent you have driven is 45/180 = 0.25 = 25%
The percent you still have to drive is 135/180 = 0.75 = 75%

I think you have to have a clarity of percentage.

In lay man terms
Percent means for 100 how much?
SUppose I buy a car for $5000 I get a discount of 10%
MEANING
If the car costs 100 I get a discount of $10
But the car car costs $5000 so how much discount will I get?

10/100 *5000 is the discount I get
= $ 500
So I get a discount of $ 500
You have 180 miles but you have used 45
So percent means how much would you have used if you had 100 miles
180---------------------- 45
100 ------------------------- ?

100*45/180

= 25 %

Whenever you are asked to find percent you have to find out the value for 100
Hope something is clear
