Let peanuts cost x per pound
cashews will cost 3x per pound
No. of pounds of peanuts he bought 14/x
No of pounds of cashews he bought = 18/3x
14/x + 18/3x =10
42+18 / 3x=10
60 = 30x
x=2 cost per pound of peanuts
3x= 3*2 = 6 will be the cost of cahsews
So he bought 18/6 = 3 pounds of cashews.
