Answer by checkley77(12844) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
D=RT
D=4*T FOR THE WALK
D=12(T-2.5)
BECAUSE THE DISTANCES ARE EQUAL SET THE 2 EQUATION EQUAL
4T=12(T-2.5)
4T=12T-30
4T-12T=-30
-8T=-30
T=-30/-8
T=3.75 HOURS FOR THE WALK.
4*3.74=15 MILES FROM HOME TO THE BIKE SHOP.
SAME FOR THE RETURN BIKE RIDE.
PROOF:
15=12(3.75-2.5)
15=12*1.25
15=15
