First, forget about the numbers- the main problem here
is converting units.
given:
mi/hr and
cm
You are asked for time in seconds
You will have to use
distance = rate x time, and
time = distance /rate
In this problem, you are given:
time = cm/(mi/hr)
This is the same as cm x (hr/mi)
Now multiply by unit conversion factors:
cm x (hr/mi) x (1 mi/1609.344 m) x (1 m/ 100 cm) x (3600 sec/ 1 hr)
Note that hr cancels hr, cm cancels cm,m cancels m, and mi cancels mi
