Car 1 travels at an average speed of 50 mph. Car 2 travels at an average speed of 40 mph. In the time it takes car 1 to travel a certain distance (d), car 2 travels 100 miles further. Find the distance each car travels and the time of the trip.

You have posed the problem incorrectly somehow. It is not possible for the slower car to travel farther than the faster car in the same amount of time.
