Question 254411: If you travel 60 mi/hr for 30 minutes and 45 mi/hr for 20 minutes, how far have you traveled? What is the average speed?
Answer by palanisamy(496)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Given, I travel 60 mi/hr for 30 minutes and 45 mi/hr for 20 minutes
The distance travelled at 60 mi/hr for 30 minutes = (60*30)/60 = 30 miles
The distance travelled at 45 mi/hr for 20 minutes = (45*20)/60 = 15 miles
Total distance travelled in 50 minutes = 30+15 = 45 miles
The speed of the train = distance travelled in one hour
= (45/50)*60 = 54 miles/hr
