If the average speed of the second car is 12 km/h faster than the speed of the first car, what is the speed of each car?
:
Let s = speed of the slower car
then
(s+12) = speed of the faster

It says the times are equal, write a time equation: Time = dist/speed
2nd car time = 1st car time
=
cross multiply and solve for s
111s = 93(s+12)
111s = 93s + 1116
111s - 93s = 1116
18s = 1116
s =
s = 62 km/hr is the slower car
and obviously
62 + 12 = 74 km/hr is the faster
