An engineering student is dropping an egg from the top of a building that is 40 feet high. How long will it take the egg to hit the ground?
-------------------------------
Formula:
h(t) = -16t^2 + 40
---
h(t) is the height of the object at time=t.
---
The height is zero when the egg hits the ground.
---
-16t^2+40 = 0
-16t^2 = -40
t^2 = 40/16 = 5/2
t = sqrt(5/2) seconds (time for the egg to reach the ground)
