Question 247944: a person can jog 15 mph and walk 5 mph, if it takes that person a hour longer by walk what distance did they travel. I can back into the answer which i believe is 7.5 miles by charting it, 1 hr =15 miles, in half an hour they would jog 7.5 miles, so if they walk 5 mph in one hour they would cover 5 miles and in an additional 3o minutes they would cover 2.5 niles so in 1hr and 30 minutes it would be 7.5 miles which is one more than jogging it. what I need is a formuala.
Answer by scott8148(6628) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
time = distance / rate
(d / 15) + 1 = d / 5
d + 15 = 3d
15 = 2d
7.5 = d
