Question 24103: Lois rides her bike to visit a friend. She travels at 10 mi/h. While she's there, it starts to rain. Her friend drives her home in a car traveling at 25 mi/h. It takes Lois 1.5 h longer to go to her friend's house than it does to return home. How many hours did it take Lois to ride to her friend's house?
Answer by Paul(988)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let the number of hours be x

She goes at 10mi/h
Gets a ride at 25mi/h

1.5 hour longer =1.5+x

Expression:
10(x+1.5)=25x
10x+15=25x
15x=15
x=1

1+1.5 = 2.5

Hence, it took her 2.5h to travel to her firends house and 1h to return.
