Question 233259: Flight 725 left New York at 10:28 a.m. flying north. Flight 245 left from the same airport at 11:18 a.m. flying south at one hundred twenty kph less than three times the speed of flight 725. At 1:06 p.m. they are 1,030 kilometers apart. What is the average rate of speed for Flight 245?
I have no clues on how to solve this problem.

Flight 725 left New York at 10:28 a.m. flying north. Flight 245 left from the same airport at 11:18 a.m. flying south at one hundred twenty kph less than three times the speed of flight 725. At 1:06 p.m. they are 1,030 kilometers apart. What is the average rate of speed for Flight 245?
d=st d=dist., s=speed, t=time
1:06 pm=13:06 (24 hr clock)
13:06-10:28=2:38=2.633 hr time of 1st flight
13:06-11:18=1:48=1.800 hr time of 2nd flight
s=speed of 1st flight, 3s-120=speed of the 2nd flight
s*t of the 1st + s* t of the 2nd = total distance traveled
2.633s+1.8(3s-120)=1030
2.633s+5.4s-216=1030
8.033s=1246
=155.11 k/h
(3*155.11)-120
=345.331 k/h speed of flight 245.
