Question 218131: at 10:00 am a car leaves a house at a rate of 60mi/h at the same time another car leaves the same house at a rate of 50 mi/h in the opposite direction at what time will they be 330 miles apart
Answer by rfer(16322) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
they are moving apart at 110 mph
One car is going 60 mph and the other is going 50 mph away from each other, so there combine speed of 110 mph is the speed at which they are moving apart.
So divide the total distance by the total speed equals the time taken to become that far apart.
Then add the 3 hrs to the start time.
330/110=3 hrs
10:00+3 hrs=1:00pm
